OpenAI’s losses $540 million in 2022 as ChatGPT expenses increase

The influential rise is attributed to the high development costs associated with their chatbot. In response, the company plans to raise funds up to $100 billion in the upcoming years to support its efforts to develop artificial general intelligence (AGI), an AI system that can enhance its abilities on its own.

As reported by The Information, OpenAI’s losses are not only attributable to the high expenses of developing ChatGPT but also to the considerable costs of recruitment and training of top talent, including engineers and research experts who are in high demand by tech giants like Google.

Additionally, with the increasing demand for AI technology, the cost of training machine-learning models and acquiring new data sets is expected to continue to rise, as the company prepares to develop future versions of its software.
