Microsoft has introduced a new feature that allows you to communicate with Bing using your voice on desktop computers. The Bing chatbot, which is powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4 technology, can even speak its responses back to you. According to Microsoft’s latest Bing preview release notes, many users enjoy using voice input for a chat on mobile devices. The feature was initially available on Bing’s AI chatbot for mobile apps and has now been extended to desktops. To use it, simply click on the microphone icon in the Bing Chatbox.
At present, Bing’s voice chat feature supports English, Japanese, French, German, and Mandarin. Microsoft has announced that more languages will be added in the future. You can ask Bing questions using your voice, but the chatbot is even can also respond using text-to-speech technology. For example, if you ask Bing Chat ‘What’s the toughest tongue twister you know?’ using voice input, it will be able to provide an answer.
According to The Verge, Microsoft’s decision to add voice support to Bing Chat on desktop comes shortly after the company announced that it will be discontinuing the standalone Cortana app for Windows later this year.
Despite this, Microsoft has confirmed that users will still have access to powerful productivity features in Windows and Edge that have enhanced AI capabilities. This includes Bing Chat and Microsoft 365 Copilot, which uses AI to generate content within the company’s apps.
